Hello Folks -

I just picked this up off of eBay. Seems a bit different from the standard 1855, maybe an import, but not like any I have had before.

The scabbard is pretty decent with some loss on the frog. Two rivet and on the back of the frog is a gear shaped stamp with an "S" inside. The bayonet is pretty beat up on the ends of the socket.

It has a "J" stamped on the ricasso and on the top of the blade at the neck end it is stamped "P 77". Looks like possibly the bottom of an "S" above the "J", but if the US was scrubbed, the "J" must have been added afterwards (IMHO). Anyway, a new one to me. The "J" stamp rings a bell, but at my age that could be the dinner bell.

Socket diameter is ~.816"s, Socket length is ~3"s, BL is 18"s, OAL is ~21"s.

Thanks for looking!

- Mike
