Hello Everyone! I'm brand new to this site and I think this is the coolest thing since the invention of of the internet! I've been a "Buff" since I was 12 years old and found out that I had and ancestor that served in the Union Army during the War (Ira Eble Co. K 4th U.S. Infantry) and I've been hooked ever since. I've recently found out that I had another relative (Charles McGill) who died during the War while serving with Co. F 28th Wisconsin Volunteers. I look forward to spending time here and talking with you. Feel free to give me a shout any time!

Hello and welcome from 35 miles north of Gettysburg! You have an interesting family history of Civil War participants. Have you researched them, their Units and actions?

Still a work in progress. I know that my Uncle Ira had suffered a broken ankle while guarding General Grant's H.Q. during the Wilderness Campaign(runaway supply wagon) and Charles McGill died of disease(Diptheria I believe) while stationed in Pine Bluff Arkansas in May of 1864. I haven't found much more info than that YET.

Hello and welcome to the forum from Michigan. I had several relative service in the Civil War, my great great grandfather died in the war. I would suspect I could join the Sons of Union Veterans if I ever really wanted to. I had a relative with my last name (but not a direct ancestor ) win a Medal of Honor. Not sure any of that counts for very much.
