Hello from Russia

Dobro požalovat'! From The HEART Of Dixie

Howdy and welcome from Texas!

Would it be historically uncorrect for reenacting Atlanta campaign to put temporaly as fourth member the man in civilian clothes?
By 1864 some troops may still have been wearing bits and pieces of civilian clothing. Of course the slouch hat was typical among Confederate troops, East and West, throughout the war. Some men in the Army of Tennessee may have been wearing civilian sack coats or trousers mixed with uniforms. However, I don't think they would be wearing that sort of coat during the Atlanta Campaign in the middle of the summer. I would go with a Columbus Depot Jacket or Atlanta Depot Jacket for an authentic Army of Tennessee circa 1864 impression.

My name is Andrew and I am a memeber of the reenactment group from Russia. We have special interest in Western Theater. Not long ago we started to reenact artillery and chose Stanford's Mississippi battery. At the moment we have only three cannoneers and so is the question:
Would it be historically uncorrect for reenacting Atlanta campaign to put temporaly as fourth member the man in civilian clothes?
I've just finished to read Larry Daniel's "Cannoneers in gray." On page 173 he gives report of the shortages in Army of Tennessee artillery: 1935 coates, 1974 blankets, 1710 haversacks and 1288 canteens.
Also there is an information about Hudson's "Arsenal" battery, that was used in defence of Atlanta. It was organized from employees of Atlanta Arsenal. Can anyone help with information, how could these battery look like?
Other information about portraying southern cannoneer in 1864 would be welcome.

Welcome from Atlanta. Nice to see a poster from my ancestral motherland. I say it would be just fine to have a cannoneer in predominately civilian clothes by summer '64. Nothing gaudy like a coat with tails or a civilian frock. But a standard civilian/homsepun shirt and period civi trousers and a slouch hate would work just fine for now.
