Shiloh was my very first battlefield at a young age to visit and it got me hooked! Been there 5 times and love it everytime. Corinth is also worth the trip. Have a great time.

As others said, please share info and pictures from your trip. Sounds like a great trip. I have never been to either and both are very high on the list of places I wanna go to.

im sittin in a hotel in corinth now. the wife came with us and she wanted to stop in memphis so we did that and got here later than expected. gonna hit the interpretive center first thing in the morning then head to shiloh. we drove around corinth a little and LOVED the statue at the corinth of a csa col. but the inscription read to honor our confederate patriots. anyway, very pumped for tomorrow.

spent the first half of the day in corinth looking at that stuff. i did not realize price and missourians played such a big role in the battle of corinth. in awe over the unknown confederate grave sites. the interpretive center is a must see imo and loved the hq houses of johnston and pgt. then we went to shiloh.
all i can say is WOW. this is my fourth major battlesite i have visited and by FAR the best. simply amazing the history and the monuments. i walked the steps of where my gggg grandfather would have been and fought. it was very moving. although, raised some more tough questions about him that will prob never be answered. after the original fight about 100 of the 18th mo was placed on the sunken road in the hornets nest, they surrendered with prentiss at 530. my gf company was not listed as one of the 3 companies that went to corinth. so, was his company one of the ones to surrender and no longer existed. but, he was placed in the hospital with dysentary sometime after that and dismissed in december. so, he was not captured, or poss paroled but his papers say nothing of capture. so, was he seperated from his unit and they were captured, did he run, or was his co not in the hornets nest. prob questions i wont get answered but will start the research when i get home.
regardless of where you fall on the cw issue, shiloh is a must see. very moving how men could endure that slaughter for causes they all believed in. it will take a full day at shiloh if you see everything and take your time. you still will not see everything. i will be going back sometime in the future.

Was your ancestor in the 18th Mo?

yes, he was. he got dysentary shortly after shiloh, was in the hospital for a few months, then discharged
