Pre-War Profession Graduated West Point 1840, artillery duty, Mexican war, garrison duty, Seminole war.
War Service September 1861 Lt. Col., served in Washington defences, commanded a brigade of horse artillery in Peninsula campaign, commanded reserve artillery at Antietam, Fredericksburg, November 1862 appointed Brig. Gen. of Volunteers, commanded 2nd Bde/3rd Divn/II Corps at Chancellorsville (w,c), released within weeks, Gettysburg, provost marshal in New York, commanded 2nd Divn/II Corps at Petersburg, relieved of his position for being asleep on duty days before Appomattox.
Brevet Promotions Brig. Gen. U.S.A.
March 13 1865.
Post War Career Army service.
