@ALBlacksmith how far are you willing to travel? While some units do both a Union as well as a Confederate impression these days, which are you looking for? Do you have a specific branch (i.e. Artillery, Cavalry, Infantry) in mind?

Travel will be dependent on how much time I have, but an hour or two from the Huntsville area isn't out of the question. I think
infantry is probably the best way to start. My ancestor was in the 4th AL Cavalry, so I am interested in Calvary. I already ride horses, but do not currently own one, so I would need time to gather uniforms and tack. If it's required, I would be willing do both sides, But I prefer confederate.

There's a member here that comes on once and a while that posts some event info from Alabama but I'm having a brain fart on his name. If you scroll through the events threads maybe you can find one of his threads. I know some guys in Georgia if that's any help.

I'll give it a look. It could help they could know guys out this way I don't know if I could drive to Georgia regularly

If I may suggest that you contact the Alabama Confederate Veteran's Home in Marbury, I'm sure that with all the events that have reenactors there, they probably know who you can contact about joining a group.
