Active Zouave Groups

[9th US Regulars]

Hello again, y'all.

I'm feeling in the mood for some crafting, and want to make a Zouave uniform from the copious amounts of wool I've hoarded in my sewing supplies. Trying to decide what regiment to emulate, so wondering what groups are consistently doing events.

I've seen the 114th Pennsylvania a couple times now, and enjoyed chatting around the fire with them. Are there any 5th New York groups out there? Google hasn't been helpful finding them so far.

I've seen a group in Illinois do zouaves, but I don't recall which regiment they were portraying.

I suggest you check out the Facebook page for the 5th New York to see if they are still active. It's been a few years since their website was updated.

I believe the1st Louisiana Special Battalion Company B Tiger Rifles is still active. Check out their page on Facebook.

I suggest you do a search on Facebook for active Zouave units. Keep in mind it is more expensive for a re-enactor to do a full Zouave impression like the 114th PA and 5th NY. Zouave impressions aren't as versatile as a standard Federal Infantry impression.

The 72nd PA reenactor unit from Western PA/WV/Eastern Ohio is very Zouave focused. They are doing the 11th NY Firefighter Zouaves for an upcoming Manassas event in May and the 14th BK for the July LH
