Grant and Longstreet

Excellent find, JB!
If you have half an hour to watch, it's definitely worth the time. The video covers a lot of topics we have discussed here, among those interestingly the peace negotiations initiated by Longstreet and Ord, employing Julia Dent Grant and Louise Garland Longstreet as mediators ... which were put to an end by Grant.
And I liked the fact that in the early stages of their friendship it was Longstreet who dominated the relationship and supported Grant, whereas after the war of course Grant supported Longstreet. That's what friends are for!

Thanks for posting that ! I knew that the two of them had been at the Point together but didn't realize the depth of their relationship. Learned something good today.

Grant and Longstreet were related by marriage as well: Julia Dent Grant was Longstreet's cousin and Longstreet introduced Grant to her when both were stationed at St. Louis.
