My Christmas present to me. Drum from the 25th Ohio. Another bucket list collectible completed. Wait! If this is a bucket list should I hurry up or slow down? Think I'll just enjoy the ride. H

Thanks guys. Drum measures 17" in diameter and 17" in height. The ropes have been replaced. The interior of the drum has a tag that reads B.F. Gilmore, 25 OVI. Gilmore was a musician with the 25th. The MFG was C.M. Zimmermann's of Philadelphia Pa. I plan to have it covered with a glass case. The map I got at the NPS gift shop at Chattanooga. It is a map of Middle Tenn. and North Ga. showing the areas of the Tullahoma campaign and the resulting battle areas around Chattanooga. The map was a big help when I was reading Powell and Wittenberg's excellent history of the Tullahoma and Powell's 3 volumes on Chickamauga. I picked up the little stand the drum is on at our local Habitat for Humanity store for $15. H

Love the display, and the idea of a glass case is a good one. I do hope you have all of this listed on your homeowners insurance. It pays to itemize, and take detailed pictures of your displays. I just took pictures of the interior of my parents cabin up north for insurance.

Just updated my list and valuations. Nest week I'll be doing a major insurance upgrade on the collection. Interior photos on my computer, phone and this website. Good advice. Thnks. H

Nice drum and collection! Suggestion for the drum--slide the leather ears on the ropes all the way down (or up looking at your picture) so all the ropes are loose to release pressure on the head. You don't want to store it with the ropes tightened, even halfway like they are now. You want it to look like the drum in this picture when not being played:
