Good Fit?

Just found a reenacting unit centered near where I live https://www.floridacwreenactors.com/
It seems great, as I could do both a Confederate and Union impression, and they've attended some of the battles that I thought would be cool to participate in. However, they seem to be more of a campaigner group, while I'm planning on sticking with mainstream battle events for now. Would it be a good fit?

@peacefulanimalguy7@gmail. don't be in a hurry to join a unit. You don't know if a unit is a good fit until you meet them. You want to mess with a unit where the guys want the same thing out of the experience as you.. Reach out to them, talk to them on the telephone and then arrange to attend one of their events before making any decisions. Quite a few units do both Union and Confederate impressions these days. Keep in mind the added expense of doing two impressions. Do things right so you don't have a bad experience where it turns you off to the hobby. Good luck.

I know those guys from my time in Florida. They're good guys and they are not a campaigner group, they're at the mainstream events in Florida. Just about any Confederate group in Florida also doubles as Federal, there's not that many Federal groups down there and there's always a need for a couple companies to galvanize for the good of the show. I always brought my Federal kit with me to events down there.

Wow! What a great callout for our reenacting group. This is the 1st Sgt for the reenacting group at https://www.floridacwreenactors.com/. I also administer that website. We reenact all around Central Florida. And as captaindrew stated, most reenacting companies in Florida swing both ways as Union enthusiasts can be hard to come by down here. If you are interested in learning more about us, check out the website and just give us a call. We definitely are not campaigners. We like our creature comforts inside our tent. Also, we are very easygoing, laid back, and big on educating and helping any new members learn more about the hobby and the Civil War. Sowbelly and Hardtack is right on the money. The absolute best thing to do is go to an event and talk to us. Its as much you learning about us as it is us learning about you! We also try to go out of state at least once a year. There are a lot of 160th Anniversary events happening right now. If you ever want to participate in a big event, now is the time. They will only get smaller as time goes on. For a full list of events all around Florida check the schedule at https://drive.google.com/file/d/1pkGiZtJyB2BzNruoaYCIt9G1RtG3c1mb/view.

Thanks. I do have interest in the unit, but I may not be able to join anytime soon for various reasons besides costs. But I still wanted to know others' opinions about it.

I live in Central Florida, but I've never seen these guys! I saw one reenactment: at age six, I was at Castillo de San Marcos in St. Augustine and they shot off a cannon. I think they were in gray.
