War Service July 1861 captured in New Mexico, exchanged a year later, September 1862 Col. of 130th New York, regiment was reformed as 19th New York Cavalry, commanded Cavalry Reserve Brigade in Army of the Potomac, Overland campaign, Shenandoah Valley campaign, Cedar Creek, October 1864 appointed Brig. Gen. of Volunteers, Appomattox campaign.
