Full frontal pics of some of my favorite Gettysburg monuments and memorials. Just snapshots - little or no artistic flourishes

Very cool thanks for sharing.
My pleasure. The best thing about theses pics is that they were taken on four different visits but all were taken on July 1-3. I have never told Mike Turner how much I liked the idea, but he always wanted to time all our battlefield visits to as close as possible to the actual date on which they occurred.

Look forward to it. I live in NC, and it is quite a trip to Gettysburg from here, but I have made 5 trips to Gettysburg. One day, I dream of living in Gettysburg, and being able to visit the Battlefield at any time.

Respectfully,
William

I live about 100 yards north of US Hwy 30. If I drive about 500 miles east on Rte. 30 it becomes Chambersburg Pike. Of course it would take two days to travel that route because it passes through every town between Chicago and Gettysburg. Prbobly 500 traffic lights.

Last year was the first time that I visited the battlefield on a "battle date." It's definitely more crowded than other times of the year. That being said, there definitely is more electricity in the air. There are also more ranger programs and you usually see re-enactors walking around.

I should stop complaining that I am 100 miles from Gettysburg.

You are right. I have seen reenactors on all of the last handful of trips. We got to visit in 2013 for the 150th anniversary. That was special - especially the speakers tents.

Can you tell me about the 2nd photo here @Jimklag ? I am wondering about the representation, the woman with the trumpet and the dead soldier lying beneath. Is it a monument to a particular Regiment/Company? Thanks in advance for any further information shared.
That is the Louisiana state memorial and one of the most beautiful. It is said to represent the spirit of the Confederacy and a fallen artilleryman.
