Me, too <I save the insults for work> I loved that supper at O'Roarks's. I cannot thank you enough Horsey for making that arrangement: A Queen's Seat saved by Susan and @Eric Wittenberg (I cannot thank them enough for that courtesy) crab cakes (a personal favourite) and the best company in the world. I ask for nothing else.

When Susan and I got to town on Friday afternoon, we met @pamc153PA at Hunt's Battlefield Fries for lunch. Hunt's is legendary for a lot of reasons, not the least of which is that it is the ONLY place west of the Susquehanna River where I've found a decent cheesesteak. The three of us then went out to visit the new parcel of land on South Cavalry Field, which really reinforced what I've said about that battle all along. We then found @pmuskett's tour at the Trostle barn, and I couldn't help myself. We pulled up, and I yelled out, "Don't listen to a word this guy says!" I got a lot of bewildered looks from the crowd and just the response I expected from Phil, whom I've known since I was his instructor in a master's degree level graduate school course on the Gettysburg Campaign that I used to teach.

We had a good time at the Reliance Mine Saloon get-together seeing old friends and making new ones. @unionblue and I lived about 15 miles apart herein Columbus for years, but could never get together. It took a Gettysburg trip to do so. Go figure. I'm just sorry that we didn't get a chance to get together while you still lived here, Neil.

Saturday morning's Dirty Dan tour was a great time, even if I did screw up and forget that the Longstreet Tower is south of Pitzer's Woods and not north of them. That was a glitch. I thought that the tour worked out well considering that I had never led that particular tour previously. I think I pulled it off.

Dinner Saturday night was a blast, particularly watching the interplay between @unionblue and old pal @Rebforever.

Sunday's tour also went well. I enjoy leading that tour, largely because I enjoy skewering mythology. At the end of the tour, I took the group down the Low Dutch Road, and we then went to Two Taverns, which is a place I normally don't take folks. It's a very important spot and one that's critical to understanding. We then said our goodbyes and headed home.

We were in town for just under 48 hours. Those 48 hours were packed full of friendship, laughs, and good times. My only regret was that it ended so soon.

I've said this before, but I want to say a very special thank you to @War Horse for his extraordinary effort in putting this whole thing together. It may have been my idea, but Mike made it happen, and without him, there would have been no tours for me to lead. Well done, Mike. And thank you. Thanks also to my wife and very favorite traveling companion Susan, and to @Bee and @PeterT for riding along with us and helping to make the trip all that much better.

It may have been my idea, but Mike made it happen, and without him, there would have been no tours for me to lead. Well done, Mike. And thank you. Thanks also to my wife and very favorite traveling companion Susan, and to @Bee and @PeterT for riding along with us and helping to make the trip all that much better.

OMG. Thank you & Susan for having us along in your car. It was a privilege and an honor to bee in your presence.

Just made it back to California today after my ten day sojurn. So great to meet everyone. A big thanks to Mike for his incredible work. Thought you might like to see this pic from Monday when I donated the drafts of Charles Anderson's Gettysburg speech to the Gettysburg National Military Park. Park Chief Superintendent Ed Clark and Curator Greg Goodell were really excited to get their hands on these little treasures.
