Apparently, the photograph was created shortly before Malvern Hill.

Couldn't have been that shortly. I don't think in July there were too many in greatcoats. But shortly is relative.

I never knew these three were from Georgia or that they all were killed. Thanks for the information.

I noticed the overcoats too and the guy on the left wearing a scarf. The middle guy has an extra cross belt and all of the soldiers' rifles look slightly different. All three enlisted in the same company in April, 1861, before overcoat weather. Do we know how their company was armed?
