Grumble Jones wore simple clothes with no insignia. In battle, he famously instructed his men to call him Bill to avoid identification as a general by the other side.

Felix Zollicofer wore a white rain coat the day he was killed at the Battle of Mill Springs. The white raincoat and his near sightedness were probably the reason that he became an easy target when he rode into the Union lines asking a Union colonel why his men were firing into his lines.

I recently saw a picture of a pink uniform worn by a reenactor portraying Jeff Thompson. Though not a commissioned CS general did Thompson wear a pink uniform?
