Turchin led with Reynolds the movement on the 20th at dusk of the Federal Withdrawal. Reynolds witnessed the collapse of the Right Flank earlier that day. Reynolds told Turchin that if they were confronted with Confederates, for the safety of the men, he thought they should surrender. Liddels Brigade was on the McDonald Farm on the path of Turchins escape. He brushed them aside and others followed. Probably saved the whole movement. Again in Chattanooga he was part of the movement that secured the Cracker Line at Browns Ferry. Only the best were selected for that job.
