General New Jersey Jackson??

Hello everybody, I ran across this photo here

and it says it is "General New Jersey Jackson" only I can find absolutely no evidence of a general with this name having served in the war. Is it mislabeled you think? Here's the photo:


Any ideas?

Update: This man is Nathaniel James Jackson.

I am thinking what happened is someone saw his initials, "N.J. Jackson" and assumed it stood for New Jersey? As if nothing else in the world could ever have the initials "N.J." besides the Garden State.
