Recent Find Gardner canteen help

Does anyone know a sure fire way to tell if a gardener canteen is original or reproduction ? What are some signs to look for when examining one? I recently picked one up and was curious.

Photos would be helpful but some of the tells are spout construction, as well as metal band and metal strap loop construction.
