To all,
As many of you remember a group of us attended a muster at Gettysburg last summer led by Pat Rohan. This sculpture caught my eye. In my opinion the artist really captured the soul of the individual warrior here. This man is striding purposefully forward, weapon at ready, with a look of grim determination on his face. He knows what awaits but he goes anyway.

The thing that always impresses me when I visit the battlefield at Gettysburg is the quiet while all the time I strain to hear the "sound of the guns."

Sincerely,
Unionblue

I tell my students every year after I return from Gettysburg that at any given time hundreds up to thousands of people are touring the battlefield, yet it is quiet and still. I sometimes think that all the noise that historically could occur happened on those 3 to 4 days in July 1863 and there is no more noise in the container to spill out.

People just look on in amazement and wonder, and maybe like me, want to be transported back to watch and hear everything that took place.
