Fredericksburg sites

I will be attending a three day military history convention there next month. I expect I will see some of these same sites. Perhaps I should take my camera? I have not looked at who out tour guide will be for our bus trip to the battlefield.

Make sure you check out Mine Run. Small engagement and the area has only been opened in the last year or two I believer. I bought the Savas-Beatie book at the Chancelorsville VC and it really helped getting around the Mine Run area last June.

Paynes farm is a great little not well known site to go to. Went there in late 2019.

I will be on a 8 hour bus tour that will include the Battle of Fredericksburg and the Battle of Chancholrsville. I have not seen the name of the tour guide nor the itinerary, so not sure exactly what we will see. Two battlefields in 8 hours is a bit on the brief side. It does say lunch is at the Smith Bowman Distillery. The next day Joseph Stahl will give a lecture on "Faces of Union Soldiers at Fredericksburg". I suspect I will buy a copy of his book.

Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania is popping at the seams with population increase. They cant build houses or apartments fast enough. Sadly, it drowns out the historical aspects of the area. The city rezoned and allowed hundreds of townhouses built right next to the NPS Military Park. Enjoy your trips and safe travels
