Took a mid-week field trip to Frankfort, Kentucky last week on one of the more recent warmer days. Thought I would share a few photos from my visit to the Frankfort Cemetery. The cemetery is located on a hill that overlooks the city and the Kentucky River.

It is the burial place of numerous Civil War officers from both the Union and Confederacy including Lt. General Simon Bolivar Buckner, Maj. General George Crittenden, Maj. General Thomas Crittenden and other officers and enlisted troops.

The cemetery also has a number of other notable graves including the (disputed) grave of Daniel Boone and his wife and Marine officer Presley O'Bannon. It's also the final resting place for a number of Kentuckian veterans of the Mexican-American War, Vice President Richard Mentor Johnson and Simon Bolivar Buckner Jr. who was killed at the Battle of Okinawa.

Thanks for sharing. I really like that first picture that overlooks the Kentucky River.

Very nice @NFB22 . Couldn't have asked for better weather either. May I suggest entering the second picture in an upcoming Photo Of The Month contest? Great picture.
