The University of Mississippi served as a hospital, morgue and cemetery beginning just days after the Battle of Shiloh and lasting till the ACW was over.

A cenotaph for William Gaston Barringer, in St. Peter's cemetery in Oxford, MS. He was a member of the 30th Mississippi Infantry and fell at the Battle of Murfreesboro on December 31, 1862 and died the next day.

This is the Confederate Cemetery, about an acre in size, that once held over 700 graves but the Union soldiers were removed to the Corinth Natoinal Cemetery soon after the ACW ended. It is speculated over 400 bodies remain.

The obelisk of William P. Rogers' dominates the scenery at the Corinth Civil War Interpretive Center at Fort Robinett. Colonel Rogers gallantry and bravery at the 2nd Battle of Corinth was noted and praised by men of both sides. General Rosecrans said "He was one of the bravest men that ever led a charge. Bury him with military honors and mark his grave, so his friends can claim him. The time will come when there will be a monument here to commemorate his bravery."
