Not gonna lie, this is NOT a thread I planned on. Didn't even plan to go to Fort Smith!

But I gotta ask, is anyone on the forum familiar with "ghost stories" at Fort Smith?

Now, backstory, my girlfriend and I went to Heavener, OK this past weekend for a festival at the supposed, (not gonna lie, I think it's possible) Viking Runestone. Medieval Europe being her area of historical passion among others, and we got done early. I thought, "Fort Smith is close, I've never seen that fort!" and off we went.

We arrived to find traffic a nightmare as there was a Fall festival there I had no idea of. We found our way there and I was throughly enjoying myself. Being as much a Old West lover as I am CW, though I got to chatting with the nice Arkansas fellow reenactors, getting highly encouraged to come back with a Pulaski Artillery impression I've been building slowly just for the heck of it.

My girlfriend was not enjoying herself that much. She had never heard of Fort Smith and didn't know a thing about it. She got a bad feeling as soon as she stepped foot on that property, and is now horrified of it.

She experienced a few things, one being she kept feeling like something was wrapped around her neck. When I took her to the gallows, her not knowing what was in the enclosure at first, she wouldn't cross that doorway.

Most memorable thing, that I'm jealous of, I was in the room outside of the courtroom, reading signs, she wondered into the courtroom and immediately left it like a scalded cat! I later made my way in there and she stayed by the door basically saying "There's an angry man in there."

Later when I was talking of Judge Isaac Parker, (I was in Old West history heaven!)and she seen a picture of him, she swears that's the man she saw standing with his back turned over by the podium.
(The actor sitting there may have been jealous if he knew! :D)

She is freaked out and refuses to ever return, she was convinced she "was tripping" till she got to googling things. One name she heard in the courtroom turns out was a guy who strangled when hung there.

Sorry for the long story, but I figured it best to put it out there. Just happening and it being the Halloween season thought I'd tell it. So now I ask, how many others got stories or know "paranormal" stuff of the place?

We are both understandably curious…
