How long did footgear-boots/shoes last for the average infantry soldier.

this is a loaded question in my book . As quality of the manufacturing varied so did life of the shoe. Camp life was easier on them than campaign as well , the western army (Union) , taken from various books, had many times been almost barefoot .

Not long enough! Work out boots and shoes were a real problem.

Depends...quality of shoe, when/where it was issued.

Infantry shoes had a hard life, and would deteriorate quickly. If you were in a camp or garrison, that would extend the life for a while. Probably they'd only last roughly a month, on average, is my guess.
