Hello all, sorry been away several months with work and my kids school. Does anyone else have an image of a soldier in uniform with the First National Flag, or know of one? Can anyone identify this style of battleshirt ( Virginia, NC ?)

1/9 plate ambrotype image was recovered from NC. Please note the weapon was scratched out of his right hand, in the other he holds a bouquet. He also has what appears to be a shot pouch on his belt, along with a weapon of some type .

It's an interesting photo, for sure. Too bad it was defaced with all the scratching. I have never seen any photo with a flag on the cap similar to this. But that doesn't necessarily mean much--I haven't seen nearly as many soldier photos as many of you have seen.

These are quite interesting. I was pretty sure we'd see more such pictures, but these are all "firsts" for me. Another thing caught my eye in the second picture: The white handle on the man's sword or knife. I'm guessing a very nice ivory grip and a nicely ornamented pommel, too.
