This is a drawing of the first Michigan soldier killed in the Civil War. He was the color sergeant at the First Battle of Bull Run. I am using a copy of this drawing in an article and am trying to finalize a uniform description. I see the jacket is secured with a strap of cloth with two buttons at the top and I see a large button near the waist. Anyone want to provide a name for his odd jacket? I am guessing the jacket is gray, but have no idea of the trim. It seems to have a darker trim on the inside edge if the trim.
