The birthplace of 1st Lieutenant Clayton W. Carnes of the 21st Texas Cavalry in Carroll County, Georgia. His father built the cabin in about 1830. At some point before the war he moved to Comanche County, Texas and married Sarah Taylor and had 7 children. He survived the war and died in 1924.
The cabin is still on original ground and is within the boundaries of the Clinton Nature Preserve in Douglas County, Georgia which is about 20 miles west of Atlanta.
