Fighting around the Middle Bridge

I've done a search and can't seem to find much information about the fighting in between the town of Sharpsburg and the Middle Bridge. Does anybody have a good reference to this part of the field or was it not as contested as other areas? My reason for asking is I had ancestors in Garnett's Brigade which was posted on the Boonsboro Pike near the Sharpsburg Cemetery. From the ABT maps it looks like there was some action, but how much I do not know.

The manuscript that was linked in the previous was excellent and very detailed. Garnett's brigade was withdrawing from the field when the 18th Virginia was told to halt and support Moody's battery which was having difficulty getting its guns off the field. This regiment which had less than 100 men left obeyed orders and stood its ground until the battery was out of harm's way. As the manuscript states the entire color guard was killed or wounded. One flag bearer was decapitated by a solid shot during this action. My direct ancestor in Garnett's brigade was recovering from a wound suffered at Second Manassas but he had one brother at Sharpsburg who was wounded in the arm there.
