Several comments. The Midnight Special by CCR, one of the original versions was by Leadbelly. I was told it was about prison bus not a train but so far research does seem to confirm that it just may have been a train. Gee, it's not like the Texas Department of Criminal Justice to misinform it's employees (I say that sarcastically) Also the older train on Petticoat Junction was mentioned.The engineer on that train was no other than Gene Autry and Roy Roger's sidekick Smiley Burnett. He played a character Charlie Pratt.

Oh yeah the Dillard's who had the song "Reubens Train" was the bluegrass band that played the Darling family on the old Andy Griffith show with Denver Pyle as the patriarch.
