I don't know, I'm not particularly young myself (or very technologically advanced, either), and I do find a lot of the computerized stuff at the new Gettysburg VC distracting or not terribly educational, but I never felt strongly about the electric map. I'd seen the show a couple dozen times before I saw one of the last ones in 2008, but I feel more strongly about the entire old VC being taken down (ah, the smell of millions of visitors over tens of years that permeated the inside of the building!) than about just the electric map being gone. I can understand, though, how some people might feel otherwise, especially if it was your first experience with Gettysburg, and it would be a good nostalgia piece somewhere else, if anyone cane ever get that going.

Now the Cyclorama--that's a whole OTHER story!

I remember that , even in the 60s, the electric map was laughably old-fashioned. With that said, it gave hundreds of thousands of visitors their first and only overview of this or any battlefield. A 21st Century profitable attraction? I doubt it

by a long shot, the most asked question we get from visitors to the VC is "why don't you bring back the electric map." It might be old tech, but people love watching those lights display troop movements. It lets them picture the battle on the field better when they get out there.

I watched the video today. The narration wasn't terrific, but I enjoyed the lighted map itself for the reasons Rob noted. It would indeed be helpful.
