I had this listed on ebay, but someone messaged me that it was a replica. The person hasn't message me back about why yet so I figured I'd post it here for your opinions. The only thing I saw that made me go "Hmm." is the ricasso just says "Ames Mfg. Co, Chicopee, Mass" where others I've seen have "Made by" above Ames. So I ended the auction until I know for sure because I don't want people writing me off as selling fake stuff.

Plus already mentioned by someone in a past thread, 1862 seems to be a year the Charlatans love to use on fake CW swords. :smile coffee:

Don't take this personally but some of the Swords you posted that you inherited from your Father are Reproductions or Fakes. Was your Father a CW Reenactor? Might explain all the Repo's. Or like my Father was He not up to snuff when it came to the knowledge of Antique weapons?

No he was just a collector. From the dates on the original ebay pages on those other two I previously posted about, these were swords he collected when he first started and didn't know what he was doing. I didn't have any info on this one though. The majority have all been real. I've found three out of about twenty that were fakes or repros. I have one other in this same style that I will post and check about first because it was bought around the same time... He has probably 5 or 6 books on fake swords so I guess he learned his lesson after these were purchased.

It is indeed a repop but in the future you need to make sure what you post on Ebay is right as rain as once you post one repop as an original you will be branded with the Scarlet letter F

Ha ha I will. I got one more that I don't see any markings on that is a similar style so I'll try to take some pictures and post it. It's the only one left that I'm not certain about.
