Guys what was the effective combat range of the short barrel Enfield .577s? I'm talking about the 24" and 21" ones. Do they differ from the repros in this regard? Were they much less effective at range than the longer 2 and 3 banders? Okay thanks!

I think you would naturally suffer a bit on muzzle velocity and accuracy because of the reduced sight radius so those both feed into effective combat range.. I would rank it as a close match to a Sharps carbine in accuracy and effective range. Thinking about 200 - 300 yards maybe... Since most combat was close up .. if under 200 yards I don't think you can say there is much of a difference. Original or reproduction ..It shouldn't matter.. If you have an older Parker Hale, they are accurate little rascals.
