I want to post this image from the Christopher Chant book The Military History of the United State 'The Civil War 1861-1865. I was wondering what our uniform folks think of it. This is suppose to be a drummer from 1864 and he is in the 88th NYVI Rgt. part of the Irish Bde. Specifically what about the accuracy of the gray trousers that late in the war? I have seem color illustrations of the 88th NYVI in 1863 wearing gray trousers but does anyone have information on how late in the war the NY Irish Bde. continued to wear gray trousers?
