I'm looking for an event to go to, and wondering y'all's opinion on the Droop Mountain reenactment.

Worth the trip, or pass?

The other options are Cedar Creek, which I've done before, and Franklin in Georgia.

Given those three choices I'd go with Cedar Creek. The Franklin event, which originally was going to be in the Franklin area, has moved to Georgia due to some kind of dispute with the landowner at the original site. It was going to be pretty big but a lot of organizations pulled out over the venue change. I hear the new venue isn't far from Chickamauga but don't quote me on that, I haven't looked into going. So if you've never been to Chickamauga maybe that might be a draw for you.

I heard about it last year, and thought I'd be willing to risk a trip there from Texas, just to do a reenactment in some mountains. Not really any other reason. Something that seems hard to find.

Event did look "hokey" as a gone old friend at reenactments would've said. But I've passed on that indulged idea. Too far away and got an Oklahoma event around the same time.

Cedar Creek probably be a better bet. Probably more so than Franklin considering their recent difficulties, though Franklin probably needs support from the community. I wish the folks at Droop Mountain good luck though, among many other things.
