Double Breasted Officer’s Shell Jacket

I saw this for sale and was curious as to its authenticity. Somebody clearly added incorrect buttons and rank boards, but the original construction of the coat looked to be period original. I was also unsure about the pants. Would it be worth it to fix it up and make it look correct, or is this just a worthless, old movie prop not worth the effort?

Looks to me like maybe they tried to make a single breasted out of a double breasted, maybe to try and fit a portly individual. That's an odd looking coat, I'd pass if it were me.

It appears well made, but there is too much wrong with it, there are plenty of uniforms for sale as the hobby shrinks........take your time.
