Donkeys?

The only one I'm aware of was Jason:

But, here's an "army donkey" from WWII!

There's a parody website that states Quick Draw McGraw and Baba Looey were on the Union side during the Civil War:

baba-looey.jpg

"Quick Draw McGraw was born in Mexico, just before America acquired it in 1848 or something. His Buddy Baba Looey was born in 1853 and in 1860 years later, they would meet-up in Utah during the years of the Pony Express and would later wind-up in the Civil War.

"Since both Quick Draw and Baba Looey were never in the Slave States, they fought for the Union and would be rewarded the 'I was in the Civil War because...' and they would be security guards for Abraham Lincoln, but would get fired once they forgot to protect Lincoln on that night where he was shot by John Wilkes Booth.

"In 1866, both Quick Draw and Baba Looey went west and they would wrangle many bad men such as Jessie James, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, and Billy the Kid to name a few. However, they would escape from jail so they arrested them again and they would escape from jail. This would happen for a few years.

"Quick Draw even saved a town by making it like another town. This fooled many bad guys until they found out that nothing moved. Still, Quick Draw would be the sheriff for that town until Black Bart came by. But by then, Quick Draw and Baba Looey went with the sunset anyhow."
