I purchased this a few weeks ago. Not vary costlly and 21 inches tall. Do I see some uniform and equipment mistakes?

Let me start with no ammunition pouch and a possible hackersack where it should be.or is it an odd shaped ammo pouch? Do we see other mistakes?

I bet that could clean up nicely if repainted. You can change the color of the pants welt or add the colored trim to the coat. Since he already has a red stripe on the pants you can paint on shoulder boards too. I'm guessing it's supposed to be a cartridge box but it's just made funny

Square belt buckle so a sergeant?

AN odd canteen.

Not sure he can be made accurate. May be a bit of touch up paint. Or just leave his as is.

Reminds me of something cobbled together by artificial intelligence, except he's not way overweight. In other words, every detail is wrong but you get the impression of a Union soldier from the Civil War; like what Hollywood has been doing since it started.

I think I´d leave it alone because you´d have to match the original finish on any mods you do. Unless you repaint the entire figure. You could go a different route and paint the entire figure a metallic bronze and antique it, so he looks like a small monument. That would cover some of the sins. His canteen is oddly shaped, spanish looking thing... cartridge box looks soft like a hunting bag. He has no frock coat trim, or rank insignia, but has the square belt buckle and a trouser stripe of a heavy artillery sergeant. Oddly enough, the knapsack is pretty good. It´s a scupture - put him on your shelf with your Civil War books and he´ll look fine.
