As Decoration/Memorial Day is fast approaching, I was just curious what the members of this forum do to honor those who fought in the Civil War on this holiday as both North and South celebrated in their own ways, and Decoration Day, as the GAR called it when General Logan's GO 11 came out 150 years ago, developed into what we know now as Memorial Day.

For me I will be spending the next few weekends in historical cemeteries in Rhode Island flagging veterans graves and the weekend of bouncing around from ceremony to ceremony with the highlight being the 150th Anniversary of General Logan's Order being honored on the 26th at McCoy Stadium, the home of the Pawtucket Red Sox, AAA Affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. Please take time this Memorial Day weekend to honor those who gave the last full measure of devotion, we wouldn't have a love for this time period/hobby and most importantly the United States as we know it wouldn't exist if it were not for them.

I'll head up to a little town in NW Mo. And place flags on all of my veteran ancestors graves, and flowers on all of the graves of my non-veternon ancestors.
I've got 5 generations buried in that little cemetery and placing flags and flowers has been a family tradition for as long as I can remember.
