"Debacle at Morton's Ford"

Very cool!This is an engagement I knew next to nothing about,and have been in that area a bunch of times! Missed my chance,I guess.Outside of Bristoe station,I am not much of a student of the fall/winter operations of 1863.Thanks for this nugget!
 
This map furnished above concerns the end of the Mine Run Campaign and where Robert E. Lee had his army.
One can see what kind of a fortress was there and new it was suicide to attempt an attack.
For those that have Google Earth, find Locust Grove, Va., and move South West on Rt. 20 to Mine Run and one can can get a better lay of those ridges.
