"Daughter's Amazing Recipes" is a library find. It is a cookbook published by Boone County Chapter of N.S.D.A.R. There are recipes old and new posted by the members. It also included short biography of member's ancestors who fought in Revolutionary War. The cookbook has Appetizers and Beverages, Soups and Salads, Vegetables and Side Dishes, Main Dishes, Breads and Rolls, Desserts, Cookies and Candy and This and That.
I particularly enjoyed the "This and That" section. An example is 5 Buttermilk Substitutes which include:
1 Tablespoon white vinegar plus milk
1 tablespoon lemon juice plus milk
1 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar plus 1 cup milk
3/4 cup yogurt plus 1/4 cup milk
3/4 cup sour cream plus 1/4 cup milk.
They all make one cup.
Stir the ingredients of choice together and let sit for about 10 minutes to sour the milk. One cup of real or substitute buttermilk equals one cup of whole, skim or non-fat milk.
Note: N.S.D.A.R. stands for National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
