Hello Everyone,

Does anyone know if the NPS has released a date that the Cyclorama Building is going to be torn down? Thanks in advance!

Sincerely,

There is interior work to do first, but I understand they want the whole thing gone by the 150th. I suppose we could reenact Pickett's Charge and have them go after the Cyclorama Building rather than the copse of trees, and let them win for a change.

Haha. Good idea!

Only if they promise to haul away the rubble when they finish.

Talk about bad timing for me! I went to G-burg in 2007 and was not able to see the cyclorama because of renovation. Now I'm trying to get to G-burg for the 150th and it looks like it will be gone.

Sgtredleg, the cyclorama was moved from the old building to the new visitors center. It is open to the public today. I visited it a few years ago, and I feel it looks better at the new VC

The cyclorama set-up in the new VC is MUCH better than the old one--you haven't missed anything unless you like creaky, leaky round buildings!

The painting has been restored , and is being cleaned again this month. If you check the Foundation schedule you may be able to attend one of the "Evening with the Painting" Programs alot more time with the painting and narrated by an LBG.

Cool! My bad, I thought it was being torn down and the painting done away with. Looks like I'll be able to see it afterall!
