CW Fife??

I know that without a makers mark, this may be an impossible question to answer, but I mothballed this piece a few years back because of the uncertainty that it was actually of the CW period. With winter boredom setting in, I thought I'd explore the legitimacy of this fife again. After a lot of research, I have come up with conflicting information as to whether this piece is of the Civil War era and thought to reach out to any experts out there that may be able to help. Might there be any markings that don't show up in your photos due to darkness of wood?

No, I've overlooked it time and time again. I've had it for about five years now.
