Cutlass rack number

Hello All,
Another challenge for the group's collective knowledge. Would a rack number on a CSN cutlass mean
the cutlass was assigned to a Confederate ship? Further, would the rack number itself be giving an indication
of how many similar cutlasses were on board? The number in this case appears to be 26, stamped into the bottom of the guard.
Thanks and have a great one! Jonl51

Most cutlasses were assigned to a ship. They were part of the ships inventory but would not really tell you how many were on the ship based on the number. We would love to see photos:D
