Thank you! I missed everyone as well. It has been overwhelming between preparing for a National and researching a presentation on Camp Meetings and Revival Music. I'm hoping to start breathing again. I've done lots of cooking - just haven't had time to report on it!

Just bookmarked your site, thank you!

This is very, very cool- I haven't been able to find era cupcake recipes. Question please? Have you found antique/era cupcake tins? In years of looking only found one and I'm not sure it's a cupcake tin. Seems more like molds for small puddings or custards. If anyone managed to find one it sure seems it'd be you.

I have a cast iron muffin tin. Not sure how old it is, but it came from my Great Grandmother.

I agree - I'm having the same difficulty finding antique pans or even illustrations of them. I know there are recipes for Queen's Cakes that call for small specialized pans. Based on those examples, I'm leaning toward cup cake pans being tin...but I still can't come up with a definitive answer.

Whoa, that's a family treasure. Do you use it? I have no background whatsoever in cookware but our ancestors surely clung to their favorite pots n pans like we do if not more? No expert, it seems to me surely cookware was better quality generations back, without having to pay hundreds for the nice stuff. ( Finally resorted back to good, old Revere ware, Ebay has a ton! ) Yours could easily have been around for your great grandmother's mother.

And if someone would tell me how on earth NOT to ruin cast iron skillets it'd be great.

I have used it for cornmeal muffins. They were delish...probably should add some oil to the pan next time I use it. And yes, it is super duper heavy.

Cast iron is pretty easy to deal with. I've been searching for cast iron gem pan that don't cost a fortune. Sigh.

True that! Good cast iron is pricey. I still want the Griswold Bunny, now that I have a recipe that doesn’t make me want to remove all my hair, strand by strand. I.E. the cake comes out of the lamb mold well.
