That is a nice one did you dig it?
Yes, actually I've always wanted to metal detect but have never had the chance. I found it next to a horseshoe when I was digging a trench to install some conduit and wiring for a job I was at.

I'd actually like to see if someone will take me metal detecting one day. I wouldn't mind paying for the experience because I'm no good at overlaying maps or knowing about troop movements.

Reach out to @ucvrelics (Richard). I am in the exact same position, except I have never accidentally found a relic. Closest I came was when I was with someone who eyeballed a fired Colt pistol bullet. On Shy's Hill in the 1980s!

I see a difference in the plates as if made by different makers

Gosh these "breast plates" are both beautiful and interesting. I copied both images so I could more easily compare. The Franklin original carving appears to have considerably more detail in the areas of the arrow fletching, legs, and neck feathers, while the Culp's Hill lower wing feathers are more pronounced. The position of each eagle is also quite different. Obviously a different artist and likely a different foundry location. Details? Could someone possibly post an image or two showing similar being worn; possibly studio and in the field? Thanks to @Salterr and @2ndDEboy for posting.

I guess you have this photo of him?

Thank you Mike. Much appreciated. I do indeed have this great image of the young cadet. Great picture. It's been surprising how many images of him I've found over the years; several as a result of his presence on General Meade's staff.
