It is still quite impressive.

I did have an ancestor, Samuel Stuckey, of the 2nd VA Infantry, that fought, relatively briefly, down near Spangler's Spring, on Culp's Hill. The 2nd VA Infantry was posted at and fought on Brinkerhoff Ridge until late on July 2nd. They were posted down between Rock Creek and Spangler's Spring and were hotly engaged during the early morning hours on July 3rd before being relieved and moving across Rock Creek, where they skirmished for most of July 3rd. I don't know if you have anything in your collection from that area. I have some minie balls that were dug near where rt 15 crosses the Hanover Rd. That is kind of in the area where Walker's "Stonewall" Brigade and the 2nd VA Infantry were July 1st and 2nd during their visit to Gettysburg.

Regardless, I just enjoy visiting the Culp's Hill portion of the battlefield. Being a Marylander by birth there were quite a few Maryland connections there. It is a beautiful area, usually relatively quiet and peaceful compared to other spots on the battlefield. It was a place that saw some of the fiercest and longest duration fighting at Gettysburg and few people know much about it or visit it. It is filled with incredible and fascinating tales.

Thank you for showing us your collection. It is a very special connection and a splendid tribute to those who fought there!

Nice grouping, thanks for sharing. 2 of my ancestors from 28th Pa. defended Rock Creek to Culp's Hill. I'm a relic hunter, but this would be a relic I would purchase. You've motivated me to do a little shopping.
