CSA sword

I cleaned it up some and you can clearly see the wire wrap on the bottom 3 grooves. Plus the pommel is way higher a more domed then the McElroy.

It has wire looks like 2 strands and the McElroy & Harrington pictured does not have as large of pommel as the one pictured. Just sayin.

What I am not seeing is any floral decoration running around the base of the pommel cap which is a feature found on all French Model 1821's and the known McElroy & Harrington swords. Makes me wonder who actually made this sword. McElroy used a plain pommel cap on some of his officer swords but it was not a high dome like you pointed out.
 
Some of the design elements of the CSA sword in the original photo are found in this reproduction non-regulation model 1850 officer's sword attributed to Henry Sauerbrier of Newark, NJ. Sauerbrier immigrated from Germany, probably Solingen, Prussia according to Richard Bezdek. He probably brought many of the European design ideas with him.
