CSA Belt Plate

Actually, since I am a cloth guy, I am very angry about the headgear fakes of three specific sellers. eBay doesn't seem to care and I have stopped nagging them, but a $75 cap just went for over $1,200 and this seller does this every two weeks. Some of the caps have gone for much more than that.

I actually purchased one of these fakes, returned it and blasted the seller in feedback, he just popped up with a different handle and location!

I wonder if the FBI would care about these fakes, they are using the postal service to send them across state lines........
I'm with you. I used to ( back when eBay allowed) warn bidders on obvious frauds
I saw, CSA swords usually, and also notify eBay. Never once did eBay respond. They simply don't care. Also, they stopped your ability to warn bidders off. I did have a couple bidders say thanks. FBI .... wow do you still believe in them? Jonl51

I gave up on eBay over 15 years ago. I did catch a seller who was shill bidding. I think eBay suspended him for a month. There was someone with the username itsafake who placed early low bids on CW fake swords for several months before eBay finally caught on and banned him. I wonder who that was.

Rank and file, yes, upper echelon, no.

Jonl51 - FYI - Gary from Hanover Brass replied and his opinion is that it is "Post War pattern made from the US Indian war plate. Most likely a veteran use and could be a early movie plate." Again, all very interesting. I'm still hoping to find more information one day (I'd really like two find who owns the sister plate that Steve saw in Texas), but it's a great plate and I'm absolutely good with it being reunion if that's what it is.

It is still a neat plate!

Gman, it is very interesting. Thank you for giving an update on Gary's response. So, apparently Gary did not make this plate. Perhaps you will get the chance to look at
the plate Steve Mullinax mentioned. Meanwhile enjoy it for what it is. Cool plate.

Package4,
I have an authentic 7th N.Y.N.G. kepi but not sure if it's CW years or shortly after. Made by Riddabock I believe. I'd value your
take. Thanks. Jonl51

Beautiful cap, congratulations. The kepi is way post war and dates between 1888-1890. The give aways are the thick brim, the honey colored sweatband, low crown and cotton braid and buttons.

The Ridabock Company was an offshoot of the JH McKenney Company in the mid to late eighties.
