CS Marked Cap Boxes: Embossed Versus Impressed

One thing Civil War collecting needs is a really good reference book on Confederate accoutrements. This should include terminology.

The first cap box shows embossed CS letters. Notice how the letters are raised.

Leigon Para, you always give helpful information. Which is the more common and haw do you tell an original from an old, used reproduction? Often reenactment items used since the Centennial are passed off as original.

CS marked cap boxes are extremely rare. With that said, impressed cap boxes are more common than the embossed cap boxes.

I have never seen a reproduction that came close to looking like an original.
