Would European need for cotton have allowed them to support a Confederacy nation with a slave labor system? The Confederacy to survive would have needed to keep expanding their slave labor territory. The natural expansion would be in western Union states, Mexico, and areas of Central and South America. At some point this would have caused issues for several European nations.
So would the European nations support the Confederacy's expansion in to Mexico and Central and South America? If the Confederacy would have attempted to expand slavery in to Asia and Africa this would have upset European plans for those areas. I can see that by 1900 some European nations and the Confederacy would be at odds over the expansion of slave labor in to other parts of the world.
I am not sure Europe would have copied the slave labor system by re adopting it in their colonies. So my first question is: Would have European nations the late 1800s and early 1900s have put pressure on the Confederacy to end slavery, or would the bow to King Cotton and support the continuation of slave labor in to the mid or late 1900s?
